You are very welcome to the Shinrone Group of Parishes - set in rural Co. Offaly (and a tiny bit of Co. Tipperary!) - the heart of Ireland. We stretch from the peaceful Lough Boora Parklands in the north, to the busy M7 motorway in the south; from the banks of the Little Brosna River in the west to the heights of the Slieve Bloom Mountains in the east.

Hidden here you'll find the only pyramid in Ireland, and the most haunted castle in the country; the ancestral home of a US president, and the mountain where the last wolf in Ireland was killed; the grand house where Dame Nellie Melba once sang, and the childhood abode of a Hollywood director; the birthplace of a general in the American War of Independence, and a hill where the last act of cannibalism in Ireland reputedly took place...!

But here too you will find a place where the Christian faith runs deep - where St Patrick was welcomed by joyous crowds, St Cuimin meditated and wrote on the great Paschal Controversy, a carved Pietà was protected in a bog from Cromwell's troops, John Wesley preached the Gospel, the Plymouth Brethren were birthed, and countless saints have prayed - from Finian to Colman, Ita to Kieran, Cormac to Molua - leaving monastic ruins, holy wells, high crosses and sacred trees as evidence of their devotion.

These parishes continue that deep Christian tradition of prayer, worship and service. Whether you're a local or a virtual visitor from far away, just curious or searching for something, know that you are most welcome - and may God bless you!
